You're seated in a research office. Two envelopes on the desk. The facilitator explains calmly: 'The left envelope has one million won in cash. You can take it right now. 'Both are 100% guaranteed — the future payment is backed by the government.' He glances at his watch. 'You have five minutes to decide.' A million now. Half a million more. One year apart. You do the math — 50% in a year is better than any savings account.
